FORT BRAGG, N.C. — More than 100 soldiers from a Fort Bragg military police unit are coming home after 15 months in Iraq.
Members of Fort Bragg’s 65th Military Police Company will be greeted by a welcome home ceremony Saturday at Pope Air Force Base. The unit deployed in December 2007 and managed nine police stations and the district headquarters in the Mahmudiyah District of Iraq. Army officials credited the unit providing an “unseen level of peace and stability in what was once known as the ‘Triangle of Death.”’
The military police company also created an Iraqi Emergency Response Unit in the district and developed an Iraqi Police non-commissioned officer academy.
