1. Why the Catholic bashing?

The Orthodox and most Protestant churches believe in the Trinity as well. Also, the Catholic Church, as such, did not exist until the Great Schism in 1045; the last authoritative declaration about the Trinity was made by the Third Council of Constantinople in 680.

2. I really wasn't trying to bash a single group - it was more of a fleeting thought while my fingers

were already on the keyboard. I was posting a reply on a political thread and happened to overhear a church service on tv as my wife was channel surfing in the other room.

You are right - I shouldn't have directed my post at catholics since I find ALL religions equally silly and fictitious.

3. It just annoys me that so much of Christendom is ignored

In some ways, the Orthodox have odder beliefs and practices than the Catholics (go look up the Divine Liturgy) and most Catholic beliefs are part of Protestant theology. Yet it seems that Catholics get the lion's share of the abuse, and other Christian denominations don't get the abuse they deserve.

4. It might simply be that some religions are just so ridiculous on the surface that

it hardly seems worth the effort to point out the absurdities.

I mean mormonism? Smith getting hat messages from gawd?

scientology? Alien spirits living in us?

That's some crazy shit.

Not nearly as believable as virgin births, talking snakes, worldwide floods and 700 year old men...............

i am a teacher and my 2nd grade indian student littered his candy wrapper and i was lecturing him really good since last week was earth day. I say Pick that UP!!!
and why should we not litter? (student's name?????) Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
and i developed my arguement with him until it was the end of the world because we kilt it and he said it would be the end of the world except for the GODS!!!!!
o lol i just wanted to u know laf but i just sucked it up and said uh huh.

edit: that was the end of our conversation but you know:
there are bazillion gods and they are all figments of our imagination--stuff we, (humankind) has conjured up since we wanted to explain what caused lightening and eclipses and other stuff

hopefully, with the information age and education, all ppl will one day realize it is a primitive explanation at a time when ignorance was popular (lol) cuz there were no other reasons, (we didn't have hubble...etc etc...)
