'Secretive' JJ Abrams film??
Anyone have a clue what it is? If you went saw Transformers you should have seen a preview for the flick that has no title (?Cloverfield?), it release date is 8-18-08.

2. The "Cloverfield" project.It's all hush hush,but it will involve a big ass monster!
There's pretty much nothing but rumors so far.It's a cool viral marketing campaign they have,with secret websites,and even Myspace pages for a couple of the characters in the movie.Rumors here:

http://www.aintitcool.com/semperex_search?semperex_search__keywords=cloverfield

Some more rumors here;

—All the monsters are carnivores and eat people throughout.
—The smaller monsters grow from scales shed by the big monster.
—There is no back story as such like for "Godzilla" or "The Host", the big one simply emerges and the present script draft has it ultimately vanishing back into the sea.
—Also don't expect much in the way of survivors at the end, literally anyone can be killed at any time, including the leads.

Even more;

Okay the Cloverfield (1-18-08) rumor mill is back in full swing. Today we have a little tid-bit that was submitted to AintItCool.com. The person who posted claims to have the synopsis of an entire scene from the film. Now how do think this person got access to such a detailed description of a scene from a film that is so top secret that the no one can even reveal the actual title? Who knows. Is it genuine? Who knows. Is this total BS? Um......possibly. I recommend people take this with a grain of salt for what its worth. Here is a copy of the posting:

Oh yeah, before I forget, here is my own new title for the film - "The Monster That Ate New York" - catchy isn't it.

I have for you a description of a unseen new sequence from the film you all know as Cloverfield.

You know, the one with the monster?

I can now safely say the teaser is not separate from the film, its part of the beginning which was shown in an abridged fashion for the purpose of the teaser, it's longer in the movie.

The new scene opens with several traumatized survivors, moving through a very dark corridor there's slight cold blue illumination from halogen emergency lighting, a girl in the group is badly beaten up she's bleeding and looks very sickly. The main group is comprised of 3 characters, Rob from the main trailer, the cameraman and a girl, though there may be others.

This scene takes place after the initial attack of "The monster" the scene we all saw in theatres. Rob is taking charge and telling everyone to keep calm, the girl says she doesn't feel so good.

They limp along until US Army soldiers storm in shouting at them, demanding they drop they're weapons, they shout back they're unarmed, there's a lot of commotion, then they're herded briskly up some E.T style scientific tubing into a makeshift aid center, its very dark, threes lots of doctors tending to wounded and military walking about making the scene very busy. "What is that thing?" they ask as they catch their breath, the cryptic answer comes from a soldier "We don't know, but it's winning"

The imagery in this scene is like something after a terrorist bombing. A carcass is wheeled past with his guts hanging out, the cameraman struggles to take in the surroundings.

Rob gets angry with the aggressiveness of the soldiers who now tell them they can't leave, "I'm going out there, if you want to stop me you'll have to shoot me" we gather he's looking for his girlfriend. "I feel really sick" the girl unexpectedly mutters, the camera pans to her, shes looks like shes about to throw up, and curiously is crying blood from her right eye. Someone shouts "She's been bitten!"

Chaos ensues... Scene end. That's all you get, this may be used for promotion and is a possibility for an upcoming trailer.

- END -

Well if this is a real scene it would lend credence to the rumors that there are smaller monsters running around, because if the girl in the scene has indeed been "bitten" by a monster that is big enough to chuck the head of the Statue of Liberty for miles, than she be would probably be missing...say a head, arms, legs...you get the graphic idea.

Here's six behind the scenes vids that popped up on Youtube.

A cool still from the trailer;

And lastly,one of the teaser posters.They've had this poster with various names so far.No one knows what the real name will be yet.

There have been rumors that this is a Godzilla sequel (I say no...there's no way that would stay secret from me!),or a remake of The Host,which I doubt too.Abrams said it would be an all new monster.Of course..he could be lying.

There,now you know as much as I do. :D

3. I've heard that it's all filmed with a hand-held camera. Is that correct?
If so, then I'm of two minds. Done well, as in Arrested Development or The Office, it could be very cool. Done poorly, and it will be unwatchably awful.

Of course, that was just a rumor I'd heard based (at the time) on the only trailer available...
