How Much Confidence Does Paramount Have in JJ Abrams' Trek?
Enough to give it the largest budget of any Trek film in history.

Star Trek, the upcoming film by J.J. Abrams, reportedly has a budget of over $150 million dollars.

"According to our contact, the film initially had a budget of $130 million but now J.J has been handed a few extra biccies," reported Moviehole, citing "reliable word from inside the cream buildings on Melrose."

The source stated that Abrams' budget has been raised to "the environs of $150-160 million" - which would be considerably larger than the budget for Star Trek Nemesis or previous films in the franchise.

"It’s a huge story they’re doing - and boy does it sound orgasmic, even for a Non-Trekkie like me," added writer Clint Morris. "It's a 'major gamble' for Paramount, says our insider."

If it's that crap about Star Trek: The Search for Intelligent Design that I heard about a few months back, color me disgusted.

2. ha ha! I hadn't heard that one. I heard it was another retread time travel plot
Romulans from the future attempt to kill young Kirk.

But, of course, there will be rumors of all kinds.

3. It was from a discussion here a number of months ago
Rereading the thread now, it seems unlikely that the film would track the series idea proposed by JMS, but his whole concept still gives me shudders!
