William Shatner not in the new Trek movie? Not so fast!
I was thinking last weekend that it would be funny if this "Shatner crying about not being on board" thing was just a ruse.

Now this from Trek Today:

Ever since the casting of Leonard Nimoy in a reprisal of his role as Spock in the upcoming Star Trek movie, William Shatner has been appearing at conventions and on talk shows lamenting that he has not been invited to play Captain Kirk. He claimed that the character's death in Generations made his return as the older Kirk impossible.

But now Hercules, the well-known reviewer and editor at Ain't It Cool News, is saying not to cry for Shatner yet. In a comment on the web site's bulletin board, Hercules wrote, "By the way. All publicity about Shatner not playing Old Kirk in the movie is lie. Word to your mother."

"I know a whole f___ing lot about this movie that you do not," Hercules added when fans expressed skepticism, pointing out that he also knew that James McAvoy would not be playing Scotty while other web sites claimed that McAvoy was in the running.

Trekmovie.com weighs in:

"It is a 'lie' to say Shatner definitely will not be in the film, but it would also be a lie to say that he definitely will be in the film."

1. Good God.
Let him rest in peace.

It's a mistake to cast Nimoy or Shatner in a movie with young actors trying to impersonate them. I'm afraid the results will be merely laughable.
