The Walking Dead is awesome so far.
The actors are great and the story is following the comic so far. My wife even enjoyed the show and she is not a big zombie fan, she only likes about three or four zombie movies.

1. I finally got around to watching the premiere episode last night.
Thank goodness for my DVR! :)

The pilot was excellent in every way and definitely sets the tone for a spectacular series. The acting, direction, costuming, makeup, etc. were all fantastic and very well done. The pacing of some of the scenes added a level of suspense that was absolutely chilling. For example, the scene with the child zombie at the beginning and the scene where Rick awoke from his coma and began wandering through the hospital were both excruciatingly slow, and that timing got my heart racing! Also, since I live in Atlanta, it's cool to see some places and buildings that I recognize.

No question, this has the makings of a quality series. I hope the rest of the series follows the pace of the pilot episode. I can't wait to watch it next week!

By the way, the coincidence of you being the author of this OP, with the username you have, is not lost on me. :hi:

2. i finally watched it this morning.
I kept telling myself that it wasn't real. I get weirded out by gory horror. I had to turn away when they shot zombies in the head and such. The bicycle girl was creeepy!

I can't wait for Sunday's show. It'll help dull the pain of there being no True Blood.

4. It just worked
I thought it was one of the best pilot episodes of a series ever. Production values were amazing, acting was great, exposition totally worked. Everything just came together into something really, really good. I can't wait for more.

5. I agree with you all!
This is an excellent show. Top notch. We just watched epi 3 tonight, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of character development in this one.

6. very good yeah! seems to be a lot of mental instabilty in the survivors
suspect things will get worse on that issue.. beginning with the bad guy who had to cut his hand off lol.
hope they dont try to explain it with a "virus"

its common in all recent werewolf/vampire/zombie media to explain it with the virus! due to the transferrance via bite or scratch they make the wrong conclusion
and ruin a lot of good stories.
but sorry..
a virus is never going to be capable of reanimating dead liquifying rotting tissue. only somekind of supernatural force could do this.. an extremely twisted and powerful one.
and whats left of the corpse cannot be funtional without a sort of telekinetic assitance from beyond.

i have to guess each zombie is possessed by a kind of spirit/demon.. with a serious hatred towards life in general, but especially mankind.

7. They are very unlikely to ever reveal the cause
They don't in the books, and the creator has been adamant in stating that it's not really important to the story.

9. Another fan of the show - too bad they couldn't produce more episodes
Good news is 13 episodes next season.

EW has a good article on the show this week & some spoilers.
