Kerry headlines bulb-swapping event
Edited on Sun Apr-15-07 08:14 AM by globalvillage
Hundreds of people showed up at a Santa Fe city park Saturday to get energy-efficient light bulbs and to hear the Democratic Party's 2004 presidential nominee talk about global warming.

U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., told the crowd at Franklin Miles Park that he wants voters to elect politicians in 2008 who are going to make a difference on the issue.

"I'm sick and tired of these people talking about families and values when they're not willing to protect them in this most fundamental way," Kerry said.

The 6-foot-4 senator arrived at the event in the back seat of a green 2007 Toyota Prius, eating a chocolate-covered ice-cream bar on a stick. He made the stop while on his way to join his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, at a Santa Fe bookstore to promote their newly published This Moment on Earth.

1. Okay, that is a classic.

That picture is an instant classic. The ice cream is just wonderful.

This is just wonderful. Oh and the event looks like it went well.

OMG, that is a classic.

Life is not fiar #809-8543. When I eat an fudgsicle or ice cream on a stick without a paper towel or napkin wrapped around it, I look like I was bathing in chocolate sauce. Sometimes I look that way even when I do use a paper towel to catch the drippings. Damn, just damn. Look at that pic. No napkins, no drips, just not fair.

3. Forget the drippage issue.
How on earth does he stay so thin? I really do plan to find out his secret some day. If a chocoholic like Sen Kerry can stay thin, then damnit, I should be able to do it, too.

On second thought, perhaps it has something to do with him constantly running all over the place promoting this and endorsing that and fighting something else, while I have my butt glued to this chair a good bit of my day.

2. Quite a way to promote a subcompact

wouldn't you say? If he can fit in the back seat... I doubt he felt very comfortable though... The quote was very funny (and nice).

5. I know the front seats of Prius are roomy
but he must've had to do some folding to get into the back.

Flexible guy, I guess.

6. Really good point - if a 6 foot 4 Senator fits
it's kind of a poor excuse for my 5 ft daughter to say there's not enough room.
