http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x757412What I learned from the post in real time:
Bush got a "bounce" out of his convention, but Kerry said it wasn't a real bounce. Correct.
Carville undermined Kerry's message as much as he could that day. Check.
August was a bad month for Kerry. Acknowledged.
Kerry predicted he would have a much better September. He did.
And this comment is quite intelligent:
We've all known for many months we would have to "survive"
August due to the skewed Convention timing creating a Bush free-fire zone against Kerry. Now we have survived and are back on even footing with both campaigns required to operate under the $75 million cap from now until Nov 2. All I have ever asked for is a level playing field. Now we have it. The X factor will be "whither the media". Whoring for Bush and the status quo or whoring for change? Change is catnip to most newsies. Gore may have suffered a bit from that in 2000. Maybe Kerry can now benefit. We shall see. Still waiting for some indication that a reasonably sized segment of the media has started to turn against the Admin.
I am so tired of people remembering things wrong. That little post from Sept. captures what was happening in real time.
