Some may remember that Beatty had already tried to run for Delahunt seat in the House in 2006, and got beaten handily. According to PolitickerMA.com, it would seem that the Senator and the Congressman made a bet on who would give Beatty the biggest beating (not nice, senator, to make fun of a poor Republican.
Guess who won!!!

Based on unofficial results, it appears Kerry won the bet; he beat Beatty by 34.8 percent.
Not bad for somebody who is not liked in our state :sarcasm:
Now, it was not a very good year for Republicans in MA (not that 2006 was, given that they lost the Governorship, the Lt Governorship, and some seats in the House and the Senate). Well, in 2008, they lost more seats in the House, and reached the grand total of 16 or 10 % of the MA House. As for the MA Senate, they did not lose anybody, but, given that they only had 5 Republicans, they did not have a lot of chances to lose.

Nassour looks to bring fight back to Mass. GOP
By Jeremy P. Jacobs, PolitickerMA.com Reporter
The Massachusetts Republican Party needs serious change, Republican Party Chair candidate Jennifer Nassour said Monday. Nassour, of Charlestown, is challenging current Republican Chair Peter Torkildsen for his job.
...
Ultimately, Nassour said it is time for the Republican Party to stand up for itself.
"I do not believe that Massachusetts is well served by a one party government," she said. "It's running us into the ground. It's not something that our founding fathers were thinking for us."
