I've gone "Kerry-neutral" with my avatar and quote
It's because I want people to pay attention when I mention something positive about Kerry without thinking I'm just being biased toward him. It might give more weight to my words.
Anyway, I'm trying it out. I don't think I'm so well-known outside of this group that people know me as a Kerrycrat. Stealth-mode! Oh, and I used to have a kitty who looked just like this one. :)

2. Mine too!

I got my cat, Tipper, at the shelter. There were 15 kittens there at the time and he walked over all the other kittens to get to us. He chose us and we brought him home and have worked hard to please him. (Tippy is 23 pounds of love. He was part of a feral breed at birth and has never gotten over that instinct to eat at every opportunity. He knows where the Pounce is kept and will knock it over at the kitchen table and roll it down to me in a gesture of pure defiance and independence. I admire that in an animal.)

3. I have two kitties right now
one is a black male, 15, and the other is a black-white-orange calico female, age around 10 (she was a stray, birthday unknown.) I'll post a pic if I can get them to sit together long enough. Twenty-three pound cat? yikes. My male, Tim was heavy, about 15 lbs until last fall, then started getting thin. It might be age, or the fact that he didn't like the brand of cat food I was using. I've got him on Purina Vitality for cats 7+ now and he likes it and is maintaining his weight ok, now. The female is a pudge though. Middle-age spread I guess!

11. All this kitty talk
makes me sad. :-(

I'm a cat person who lives in the Land of the Dog People. My daughter is ridiculously allergic to cats.

But my big fat late (and unfortunately, retarded) cat Pushkin looked just like your avatar. I also had a cat who lived to be about 20, who was a gorgeous, sleek, and scornful tortoiseshell.

12. one of my cats
is actually my eldest daughter's who tried to have a cat even though she's allergic to cats and dogs. So she passed the cat to me and visits from time to time. Here are her calico and my black:

5. No, he was named because of a white spot

on the tip of his tail. He is part tabby cat, part Maine Coon, so he is supposed to be big. (He believes he is a lap cat, which gets real interesting as well.)

I have a Tuxedo cat as well (Black and white cat.) My kids have informed me that Sandy (named after a toy that was named Sandy X for reasons known only to a 5 year old) looks French and sophisticated. Tippe looks Irish. I have to work on stereo-typing and image-relations with my kids, I have failed to impart true liberal values to them. (Hmmm, I tried, really I did.)

This looks like Tipper:

don't ever expect him to be elected President because the Murkin people just want hear of it! (Ha!) My Mojo is a fierice bug hunter - she can find the tiniest of bugs and will just sit and stare at it until I come to the rescue.

7. Nah, Sandy is a fine example of a cat
Warm, sophisticated, charming and well-read. (Cats, of course, read with their butts. This is why my cat sits on my newspaper. He is getting informed.)

We are not afraid of sophisticated felines in Masachusetts. (Well, most of Massachusetts, anyway.) Sandy speaks three languages (cat, human and, apparently dog. He speaks just enough dog to warn Riley not to mess with him as he will put up an excellent defense.) All in all, an noble, intelligent and sweet animal to share a household with. I am not certain that he reciprocates this feeling, but it is possible. (Cats never suck-up to humans. It is gauche.)

8. I love my avatar,
but have been thinking of going "Kerry-neutral" myself for tactical reasons. Can't bring myself to give it up yet, though.
