Evan Bayh saying something Dems are afraid to say ?
Edited on Fri Feb-03-06 06:53 PM by JI7
hahhaha, just saw some shit on CNN about Evan Bayh. some idiot who didn't even know Bayh's name claimed he was saying something Dems are afraid to say. and that is talking about defense, national security issues.

WTF ? our candidate for President often gave speeches on that in 2004 and even after(and before). where was Bayh to back him up ? i don't remember Bayh doing anything to help Dems in 2004.

and Kerry isn't the only one. there was Wes Clark also. i don't remember Bayh backing up anything these and other Dems said.

1. Also our candidate
layed out a complete national security strategy and knows more than anyone in the Senate on some of the issues (like international crime) that really have to be dealt with. Evan Bayh was too young to have gone to Vietnam, though he may have protested it with his dad.

2. he could still have volunteered for the military
but that's not really an issue as much as his claiming that he is talking about something that most Dems are afraid to talk about.

i would love to see him go up against Kerry on a debate about what they have done in their lives on this issue. and what their current and future positions on the issue are.

3. Good point - if both are in the primaries, they will
and you're right Kerry will both so-out alpha him, out class him. He will make him look as junior on those things as he did Edwards in 2004.

4. and Bayh is no Edwards either
Edwards could at least speak about other domestic issues and of course bring up his own family background.

Bayh's is one of privilege but without the record of someone like Kennedy and KErry who have spend their lives helping those without much.

seriously, i don't see Bayh as having any appeal. and i said before, if Dems do go for someone who is moderate they will probably go for Mark Warner . Bayh will probably be the Joe Lieberman of 2004. but even Joe has a record he can be proud of in areas like civil rights, the environment and a sense of humour. Bayh doesn't even have any of that.

so what does Bayh have other than truly being someone with a Republican Record running as a Dem ?

5. He was a well respected successful Indiana governor
Edited on Fri Feb-03-06 09:54 PM by karynnj
Warner is in the running for winning in Va, Indiana is far redder,
Bayh has both Washington experience (he will claim national security/ armed services) from his Senate terms and his good work as a governor.

I don't want him, but I don't see that Warner has much over Bayh. (Bayh could very easily influence Ohio - Cinncinnati is right on the border and is usually Republican. Warner maybe Va) Neither are great speakers or tremendous on talk shows.

6. What a pile of horse manure.
This is what Bayh thinks will get him 'out of the pack'? Honestly, I have never heard Evan Bayh say anything serious in Congress. Where was he during the Condi hearings? Where was he during the discussions over Secret Prisons and about the money that is being pissed away in Iraq in corruption and abuse.

National Security and defense. Well, where the hell has he been saying this? Cuz I have yet to hear anything from him at all. (Maybe he gives press conferences in the dark at midnight on a barge in the middle of Lake Eire. I could have missed that.)

7. LOL!
I did see him on Meet the Press about two weeks ago and he was talking defense. The handed him softballs and he seemed very rehearsed.
