Looking for books on the society of ancient Israel

Any of the searches I did came up with numerous responses. Most of what I found was grossly inadequate. I'm looking for books that give detailed information on ancient Israel from a sociological standpoint and what life would have been like for most average people. Information on the more well-to-do would be helpful as well. Under Roman occupation is preferred.
