Finally attracted some Hummingbirds
Edited on Thu Aug-24-06 09:13 PM by Maestro
It took all summer but my wife's Hummingbird feeder finally attracted the hummers. Here are my first shots ever of hummers.

From a distance...

A little closer...

For a rest, the hummer went and perched in the Willow tree next to the feeder.

I hope they stay around for a while. These guys are fun to photograph.

For exif info see my gallery. :) http://Maestros.smugmug.com/gallery/1808959/3/90463078

2. Usually 400 with an exposure time anywhere
from 1/800 to 1/1250. More detailed info is at the link. Thanks for the comment. :hi:

6. Thanks.
It was fun taking the shots. I've never really seen hummingbirds up this close. They are mesmerizing.

4. Manual?
:yourock:

Excellent series!!! Excellent photos!!! Damn, those little boids really flutter. 1/1000 sec and still have a wing blur?

I'll get my hummer up soon. The plastic one I bought ... I didn't read the box "Some Assembly Required". :-(

5. Some was manual; others auto.
IMHO, the best shots were on manual though. I desperately need a tripod though. Too much caffeine plus photo taking don't usually make for good shots. Thanks. Can't wait to see your plastic hummer.
