1. And you say there are no photo opportunities up there right now...!
Great, subtle sun (-rise? -set?) image. I really like how you framed the sun's reflection in the water-plants.

5. Stunning
The colors are just amazing, particularly the greens in the lake. It has an other worldly quality to it.

6. 8:51 pm on July 29th ... does the sun really set that early?
I thought there was only about 2 hours of twilight (instead of "night") this time of year.

7. It didn't really go "down" until about 10:23

which is when I took my last sunset picture that night. This time of year the sun is low on the horizon for quite a while, which makes for long sunsets. Had there not been the gathering cloud cover, it would have been more "daylight" looking in this particular shot, and I probably wouldn't have been able to take into the sun like this. We were up the next morning at 4:00 for our fishing trip down the river, and it was still pretty dark. By the time we got on the boat at 5:00 it was just starting to lighten up some, but with the clouds, it still looked pretty dark. Officially, daylight is 5:36 a.m. to 10:35 p.m. now. We've lost quite a bit of daylight since June 22.

The angle of the sun is always kind of strange here. In the winter it rises in the South-Southeast, travels low on the horizon for a very short time and then sets in the South-Southwest. In the summer, it rises in the North-Northeast, kind of makes a big circle southward and then back north again and sets in the North-Northwest. The sun is not directly overheard except closer to the spring and fall equinoxes.

8. So how long did it take you to arrange those water lilies so perfectly?
Very pretty pic!
