1.
The theme for the 2009 calendar is Inspirations. Please submit your most interesting, dynamic, technically wonderful, compelling photographs.
2. Photographs must be horizontal, measuring 7.5"x10", with a dpi of 200-300 or higher (preferably a dpi of 300). If the submission does not meet these requirements, it will not be included in judging.
3. After judging, the 12 highest scored photographs will be included in the calendar. If one photographer happens to have more than one photograph in the top twelve ratings, then the highest rated photograph will be selected, and the next highest rated photograph, by a photographer who is not yet included (ex. if the top photos are rated numbers 1-12, then 13 would take the place of the repeated photographer's photo) will be inserted. In the case of a tie in the ratings, I will send those back to be re-judged, and the highest rated photo will be used.
4. Please think carefully about your title. This, along with your DU screenname, will be published in the calendar.
5. By submitting, a contestant is giving permission for his/her photograph to be published in a calendar as a donation that will by sold as a fundraiser for Democratic Underground and to be used in advertising for the Democratic Underground calendar in the future. All other rights revert to the photographer. All other standard contest rules apply (please see below).
6. To submit for the calendar, please send your print-ready photographs to duphotocalendar@gmail.com. Please include the phrase “DU calendar” along with the title and DU name of the photographer in the subject line of the email. Contestants may submit up to 12 photographs. Any additional photographs will be discarded unless they are being substituted for a previous submission, in which case, there must be discussion with the contest coordinator (that would be me) in advance of the substitution.
Submissions will be open until Saturday, September 13, 2008 7:00pm EST. BASIC CONTEST/CHALLENGE RULES:
The submission thread is for photo entries only, no comments. The Host will usually start a separate thread just for comments.
The winner of the contest agrees to host the next month's contest (or recruit someone else to host the contest), and pick the next month's theme. Typically the winners have not been able to enter a photograph in the next contest. Be sure to read the following before you enter a photograph. (NOTE: The terms in this paragraph do not apply to Calendar Contests.)
