3. Awesome! How are you doing this technique again? I think I would like to try it.
Where is this location/city or State? I always like to know since I don't get out much! LOl!

5. Thanks
Picture was taken in San Francisco from some friends apartment in the upper Haight. I'm using photomatrix pro to do the beginning of the HDR creation using 5 frames each shot 1 f-stop apart. then i mess with contrast and saturation to get the effect I want. I don't really like the look of a pure HDR image. To hyper real for me. I like the surrealness of this image.

6. Your images are extremely interesting..
They do indeed strongly resemble illustrations as a poster above noted.. I'm always interested in anything that gives unusual yet pleasing to the eye results and I think your shots are very pleasing to the eye.

And I agree with (I think it was) you that the church image, while stunning in a technical sense and clearly an achievement, didn't greatly appeal to me for some reason I can't quite put my finger on.

I think the name of the program is "Photomatix" though, not "Photomatrix", although there could be another program that does the same thing of a very similar name of which I'm not aware.

8. Yes, Photomatix
Thank you!

Just got the newest version. Pretty slick. Easy to use but rather slow.

7. Excellent images I looked at how to do it in GIMP, it's a long process, but
I found an interesting filter called Retinex.

Screen Capture.

With the Retinex filter applied

after with filter faded:

9. Oooh! That looks cool!
It really doesn't look like a real place at all. More like a cg world. Thanks for explaining how you do it. That's really neat stuff.

10. Would love to see a side-by-side of an original exposure
& the HDR. My guess would be that both are great. Beautiful dramatic sky and a canny composition, vast space and kind of touching, mundane foreground details. Really beautiful as an HDR, and I suspect maybe without.

BTW, I found myself with an unexpected free afternoon today, and having seen this, I went back to try some HDR stuff myself after having forgotten about it for a while. Nothing worth posting yet, but the experimentation was fun and with more effort, I think I might just come up with something worth sharing one of these days. Thanks for keeping me inspired.
