1. This is cool! Thanks for posting.
I see the colors look flat in those images but compared to what black and white would look like, they're awesome. I wonder if this means Google's free Picassa program will let us turn all black and whites into color photos without manual manipulation.

5. Yeah, I caught on, on your other color thread.
I misinterpreted this thread to have been colorized. It's just - way more cool now.

6. I seem to remember an experiment I did using a potato and iodine or
Some other such liquid. It was colorful, as I remember.

7. I Have
a good friend who is more into antique photographic techniques than even I am, after I took him to an exhibit of autochrome he has become hell bent on recreating the plates himself. Unfortunately the bible of autochrome processing is only written in french but I found out today that the Getty is working on a translation that is supposed to be out in 2012 and I suspect we will start seeing a few photographers working with it.

8. That will be wonderful. I will see if there is a GIMP plug in
that emulates it.

9. I found a filter called "Fil." that might be used to emulate
the effect. It is something like a lomo, but less destructive of the original image. It applies the effect to a layer. From there I can fade the layer as needed.
