7. I'm just flabbergasted.
I guess someone wanted the photo that badly. It's a great photo. Still...WOW. That's a lot of money. I thought my 50K guess was on the high side. I was so wrong.

8. I think the price a bit high to only hang on a wall but
what else went along with it? Did he give up all control on how it can be used? Can it be duplicated and resold in unlimited numbers by the buyer? Did he give up all rights to his using it, duplicating it, reselling it? About every book I've read on commercial photography has told newbies to be careful they don't price too low. A nationwide campaign with limited usage (what it can appear on) and a limited time that the image is exclusive to the buyer seems to start at $100,000. Many of those commercial photography books tentatively put a price starting at a million to start thinking of selling all rights to their work away.

I could see that photo used in many ways so maybe the buyer has plans for it. Might be something to watch for.

9. With a name like Peter Lik, he deserves to get some good luck in his life.

11. Peter Lik?
The "Thomas Kindade" of photography? He probably doesn't even process his photos anymore. Look for a Peter Lik gallery at a Mall near you.

Example of when marketing is more valuable than the actual art. :eyes:

I've been to the Soho gallery and quite frankly not all that impressed but I can see why he sells so well in Vegas, they're like showgirls, flashy and over processed.

18. Steichen is subtle and more like Corot but that it was my first thought too.
I am guessing that the vivid colors were much later.

14. Nice photo, but...
...I've seen better here in this forum.

(And, to be honest, I've taken better, IMNSHO...including a couple that managed, over the course of several years, to sell a poster each for around $12.75.)
