O.K., now that the November Contest is winding down, it's time to begin the challenge to show how much you can get out of your images via Photoshop or the image-processing software of your choice.
Most of the rules will be the same as other contests or challenges here. However, there will be three major differences, to be kept in mind when trying to prepare your submission(s):
1) Since I suspect that such a challenge will draw a much smaller field than the regular contest topics (famous last words...), there will be
no limit to the number of photos an individual can enter, with one exception -- that, once you submit an image, you wait until at least three other people have submitted an entry of their own before submitting again. This "spacing between entries" rule may be modified by the organizers of this contest during the submission period, depending on how many entries we are receiving.
2) Since there will be two organizers (F.Gordon and myself) and this is not a regular monthly contest,
the orgainzers are allowed to submit images as well, under the same terms described above.
3) Each submission shall consist of
two images --
a) the modified photo, which is limited to
640 (not the usual 800) pixels in the longest dimension, and
b) a
half-size version (i.e., if the main submission is 640x480, the second image shall be 320x240)
of the original image, prior to modification, so that voters can see what manipulation was performed.
For instance, here's an example from my own work (which may or may not become an entry, depending on the number of other submissions; it won't be my first entry):
I would like the submission period to begin on December 1st, and probably run through the beginning of the next week. F.Gordon or I will put up a formal "call for entries" at that time.
Now, everybody, start modifying!
