Question about presenting art...thx!
Hello artists group!

I have a grouping of pieces I'm going to start soliciting to galleries and whatnot...but I'm a noob at that part of the story, and I wondered of any of you knew...are actual photo slides still what is used? Or is it all digital now?

Any help you can give me on this would be much appreciated! :hi:

1. Hey, SpookyCat!
:hi: It depends on the gallery. I've checked out a bunch of them online, some specify slides if you send by mail, others only want works uploaded as JPEGs, while others say both. I've rarely seen any request hard copies of works.

2. Thanks tcdq!
That makes sense.

I've never solicited my work before, always been pretty private about it, but I have a couple of friends who have "connections" whatever that means, and think my work would fit some of the galleries they know.

I'm concerned about putting any pics online, since I don't know how to protect it, like what the laws are and how to ensure any images aren't hijacked. Clearly my business acumen is...well, non existent I'm afraid! Is a watermark sufficient?

Thanks again...I'm a babe in the woods here...and so protective of these little chunks o'my soul! :-)

3. Hey, SpookyCat!
I know. I know. I'm not just starting out but I'm so shy about getting my work out there. It's great to have the connections because there's nothing better than a good fit for your works, and the good fortune of easing you onto the scene. Go for it!!! :woohoo:
I'm building a website myself now (long and tedious because I don't know what the hell I'm doing) and I've also watermarked my pieces. I've copyrighted a whole bunch at once and it was only $10 at the time. You can download the forms from the Copyright Office or if you're in D.C., as I was previously, I just took them there. Well, as far as hijacking, take heart, I know there's away that can stop right clicking or copying. I hope some artists/web designer who can explain will post.
Oh, bless your heart - I know how you feel about your work. I'm glad you posted because it gives me a little boost to inch out of my cave.
