1. Not so much possessed but totally in the moment
When I sculpt it helps to not think so much. I try and silence the "background noise" of thought and focus on the feel and shapes of whatever I'm working on. Watching my breath as I go. Some of my best work comes through using this method. I like playing music when I work as well.
For the most part, drawings are almost always planned out down to the tiny details in my head long before I even pick up a pencil. The digital stuff I do is totally the opposite. I just choose some random elements and mix them together with no end result in mind, and I stop when it hits me as being right.
