My upgrades

It took months but it's almost done:


The new cabinet we had custom made to match the other cabinets.


New paint (it's really gold), new counter tops, back splash, door handles, faucet, light fixture and of course the floors. Oh, new roman shades, too.


New floors, paint and light fixtures.


I haven't gotten our pictures back on the wall and I got some new pillows today. I'm going to put a small rug under the coffee table but haven't found what I want yet.

.... walk around .... stop ..... smile ..... touch things ....... run your hands over the countertops ...... and smile some more.

3. We're really happy with how it all has turned out....

it seemed like we would never finish. It's stressful just picking out everything and hoping it all works well together.

I admit to just standing and staring at it and smiling.

10. We had it done.....

we did the final cleaning and used a special color enhancing sealer on it.

8. Thanks. I designed the wine rack and wine glass rack

as well as the larger drawers. I wanted drawers wide enough to accommodate my place mats laying flat.

...to use a gardening metaphor.

That is, your choices blend with and enhance the basic character of the house, rooms, etc. Very impressive, and inviting. I would love to have breakfast at your table with the french doors bringing in the light from the deck.

Congratulations, and enjoy your first house together. It will always be a special place for you, and worth every smitch of effort you put into it. The only things I regret about our first house were the things we DIDN'T do.
