Our campaign believes in this and we hope you do too.

That, bring home the troops, impeach bush and aggravate as many Repugs as possible!

btw Like the billboard? It's running us $11,000 a month and we could use some help to keep it up - even $11. If you really like the billboard, then "bigger is better" applies. Tell ten firends and you all bought a 1% interest!

"Family, Faith and Flag"

If you do I think religion should be left out of politics. I don't live in Rhode Island, but if I did, a billboard or brochure with "faith" written on it would not get my vote.

2. Some progressives give little weight to religion, but the majority
cannot be ignored. We can still be pro-Choice and mearriage equality and support seperation of church and state.

3. My thoughts
The Republicans have pretty sucessfully co-opted all three. It would take too large a publicity campaign to try and take them for the Democrats. Besides, I think religion needs to be left out of politics.
We have some perfectly good issues that are already asscociated with us that we can use to win in 2006. They are Education, Environment, and most of all, Economy. We've won campaigns based on this before, and there's no reason why they should fail us now.
Nice billboard, btw.

4. While I agree in theory, not in practice.
Elections are won by the independents and moderate GOP voting across party lines. We gave up those three things which are as much, if not more so, ours and we can't win elections without them. My opinion. Thanks. I like the billboard too.

BTW

We have two weeks to do three things:

1) Raise $15,000+ for another month of Sheeler's Impeach Bush Billboard on I-95
2) Raise awareness to a level media starts making the Bush Impeachment a central issue
3) Pressure Rhode Islanders to pressure their state legislators to begin proceedings so they send a joint resolution to the US House Floor where Articles of Impeachment must be heard

5. I am sending you $11.
I quit saluting the flag when Bush invaded Iraq. I already did not want to since I do not believe in God (I substituted dog.) I also do not pledge allegiance to a piece of cloth. I am willing to pledge allegiance to the Constitution, but no one asks me to do so. I teach first grade, so I now have the honor of modeling freedom by standing silently hands at side when we have our all school flag salute once a week.
We have to get rid of these borders if the world is to live in peace. One people, one planet, one future.

I'm glad you brought this up, CarlSheeler4U.

I'm a fan of C-Span Book TV that airs on the weekend. Last weekend, they had some conservative named Star Parker on to talk about her new book, White Ghetto. One of the first things out of her mouth was stuff about "values voters".

Now, that really p*sses me off (can I say that?) Considering all fo the time I spend thinking about moral issues and trying to decide the best viewpoint to take on them, it is an insult to throw out the "values voter" moniker, as though I don't have morals because I voted (and vote) Democrat!

I voted Democrat because the Democrats best fit my values. I don't believe in breaking the wall between separation of church and state, abridging the Constitution because "we're at war", or going to war against another country because of non-existent WMD!

Democrats do have faith. It's just that most Democrats are not as forceful and legalistic with their faith as some conservatives. Combined with the fact that we don't agree with them on moral issues that they find important, many right-wingers consider us un-Christian.

Anyway, rant over. I like your platform.

8. Religion as Political Fodder
I just tried to post in another thread about how the right wing hijacked Jesus, but the thread was closed in fear of flamers (there were no flames I could see).

We in the USA see the Fundamental Islamists trying to form theocratic regimes and we fight them ad nauseum. Yet we are becoming a Christian Theocracy here in the USA. We need to do something! I am a Christian and yet I do not want to live in a Christian Theocracy. Many of my Christian family and friends seem to feel that Democrats support Abortion and Homosexuality. Ergo they won't vote Democratic.

I feel that religion is very private and should be kept out of politics. But how do we as Democrats portray ourselves as moral AND reluctant to push any religious agenda? I think we can start by moving back to center. We can't afford to let the Gay Rights and Pro Choice people push their agenda out in front of what MOST Americans want i.e. healthcare, jobs, clean air, cheap gas etc..

I think the Repubs will push the wedge issues as that has always worked for them. We need to push back, but in a different way. We need to say NO to their wedge issue bullcrap.

Please note I am not anti-Gay or anti-pro-choice. I am anti-the-Republicans-using-these-issues-to-stay-in-power.
