Being a kid and having to be especially nice to some other kid you had to spend a short time with (for example, if the kid was visiting your house) because he/she was hypersensitive and would start to cry and throw a tantrum if he/she didn't get treated specially by everyone else. The grownups telling you that you had to, because it was just easier to mollycoddle the kid for the short period of time you had to put up with him/her than to do anything else.

You always felt it wasn't fair that some other kid was rewarded for being an insufferable brat, and you always felt cheated for being a kid who tried to be good and not act like an ass.
