Roll call for KOEB meetup
It looks like we've decided on President's Day weekend. Will it be Friday-Sunday or Friday-Monday? I might be willing to take Monday off, just to be able to stay over Sunday night if others are doing the same.

So far, I think we have:

Me
DG
Crispi
Patsy
CC
Gogi
Rev
Bunny
bettyellen

Please verify if I've listed your name that you are, indeed, planning to attend. Bunny and bettyellen -- will you be staying with us wherever we wind up? We're checking into the new Residence Inn on Times Square that opens in December.

If I haven't listed your name and you're planning to join us, please post on this thread.

1. Ok, I am now officially saving the date.
Although I, for one, would be more likely to head back on Sunday (and save the vacay day). Now, are we arriving on Friday? I think pretty much all of us will be getting in pretty late if so. Because of the time diff and so on.....

the two of you on the same plane? You can bet they're gonna put an air marshal on that one. I can catch a direct hop from Intergalactic to Newark, assuming I can even make this trip, which is a big "if" for me right now, as Real Life is agressing upon my ass.

10. I'll stay Sunday night if there are others, but I'm fine with
leaving Sunday and not taking Monday off. I can take a very, very early flight Friday and get in by 8:30 or a late morning/noonish flight and get in around one or two. The latter sounds like it makes more sense. Hopefully I can meet up with someone else around the same time (LaGuardia) and share a cab into the city together.

I'm sorry, I thought you said Mouseketeer Roll Call.

I'll be in on Friday, still can't decide about Monday. So many flights from here to there that whatever timing works for everyone will probably be possible.

14. madame, would you care to reserve with me
a Room for the Undecided? It might be easier to reserve a room now and cancel later (assuming it's not a pay-everything-up-front rate) than it would be to get something at the last minute. I've got my own bag of issues that I haven't laid out, mostly because I've been waiting for the doctors to friggin' figure out what's going on. A month of this shit and they seem to be basically hoping it will all go away on its own. :banghead:

17. just check when making the reservation
if you go directly to the marriott website (have we settled on that one for sure?), you can reserve a studio ($229 at this point), & hold it w/a credit card. If you change your mind later, you can cancel, sometimes by 4 pm on the day of the reservation (but watch that, because it might be by 6pm the day before).

23. Add me :) In spirit or in person.......
It's a definite-maybe at this point, AND am overdue for my Gotham Fix, since I missed my last two trips for Conan VIP tix and the opening for Sweeney Todd.

Looks like late Feb is a go, but depends on my ...nevermind...would make me look like a hypocritcal idiot for complaining about *personal* problems.

BUT, what the hell....bad news from my Dentist, I need all my teeth removed, bad gums/bone loss and all that creepy shit...and I'm in denial, and I'm not even 60 yet! Way too young for this ickky mouthy stuff.

On the upside, I'm also young enough to realize, there could be worse news....that which doth not kill me, makes me stronger :)

Oh yeah, sign me up. I'll probably take a private room 'cuz I'm a smoker. In any event, I'll meet up "wit youse guys" sometime that weekend

I'm looking forward to it! Now, the next questions are, will people be up for a show, and should we try to get our tickets ahead of time or take pot luck at the TKTS booth? 'Cause it ain't a trip to NYC without Broadway, IMHO! :7

31. TKTS
I love playing TKTS lottery! :) My cousin & I scored some really good deals in London at the TKTS booth in Leicester Square this summer.

As for hotels, I suggest we go ahead & make reservations (that can be cancelled) as a precaution. If we get a deal later on, we could cancel them. We just need to decide who is bunking with whom. It also looks like a few are staying over Sunday. :woohoo:

Too expensive otherwise.

Who's going to make the hotel reservations for whom? I'm willing to stay over Sunday night and would like to room with one or two people. Two would be great to keep costs down.

Should we make flight reservations, too, or wait until we see what kind of deals there are after the holidays?

just for an airline ticket, but, as Sharon said, it all depends where we're staying as to just how much of a difference it'll be. Also, I'd like my own room, please. Do we have any hotel candidates yet? I found some more on Expedia, but I didn't jot them down. What kind of room rates are we looking at?

After what bettyellen said the other night (I don't know if you read the thread)about the New Yorker, I think we took it out of the running. She said the neighborhood isn't great and we're much better off in Times Square.

If we weren't going to a show, I'd actually wonder why we're going there at all. If we just wanted to hang out, we could do that it in warmer, cheaper Atlanta.

42. I took a quick look at a couple of these
I'm at work and have tons to do, so didn't want to take too much time, but the Gershwin looked like it had suites available for our dates with 2 double beds to sleep four for $189 a night. Such a deal! Not sure about the neighborhood, but seems okay -- 27th between Madison and something. Not midtown, but not far from the Empire State Building.

The Chelsea was booked for our dates, although it looked pretty cool. Hopefully others are also looking at these. I can take more time later or tomorrow to peruse.

49. The Chelsea Hotel is mega infamous. I'm surprised it's even on the list.
I would've thought it was stratospheric in price just because of it's reputation as a bohemian institution and it's decadent past.

45. I'm getting excited!
Solita Soho Htl - Clarion Collection (in SoHo: 159 Grand St.) I found this while chcking the others out on Expedia. Their double rate is $270. Single is $243.

The QT had no rooms, the OffSoho suites only has twin beds. The Gershwin looks very cute, and when I checked on Expedia, the rate for the dorm room came up. I got really excited and then I clicked the other room choice (+ $120), and the price was still good.

I love Murray Hill. Such a cute place. The Affinia Dumont was one of the hotels I wanted to mention, it came up in an earlier search and seemed good.

I'd love to stay at The Hudson, too. Bring on the Philippe Starck!

Too many choices. What shall we do, what shall we do?

The Chelsea had no rooms, so that's out. The Gershwin sounded good. I haven't had a chance to look at the others yet. If you get this soon, give me a call -- I'm at work, but will be leaving in a little while. I PMd you all my numbers the other day. I also have my cell on, so you can call that. Maybe we can go through these together and come up with a couple of things for people to vote on.
