Are you above water, Gina? Please check in and assure us that you're safe.

1. I'm home and dry, at least for now.
Some parts of Houston have had less rain than others and are only mildly "puddly"; doubtless you've been seeing the other parts on the news.

I crossed the nearest bayou about ten minutes ago (guess who had to go to the airport today?) and you can still see about four feet of concrete; a promising sign. (There are several feet of grassy bank above the paved concrete bottoms of the bayous.) OTOH, if we get the next round of predicted storms, they will be along the watershed.

2. Thank goodness.
I was ready to send out a Bay Air after you!

3. hmm, does Bay Air cuddling
count as adultery?

No rain now for 3 hours on my side of town. At least we've had some time for the bayou to drain into the Ship Channel before tonight's entertainment. ;(

4. How much rain did you get, and what side of town do you live on,
gkhouston? I'm south of Hobby and we got blasted! No water in the house thankfully, but tonight may not go so well and surely won't help the saturation problem.
Stay safe!

5. I'm on the southwest side, not far from Brays bayou.
We got about 5 inches, but not all in one hour, unlike y'all. :(

I went out again around 6 (if we get rain in the night it will probably be in the Brays watershed and I won't be able to leave the house; I wanted to get the munchkin out for a little while to stave off cabin fever) and the bayou had dropped about 2.5 feet. At least we're not starting from too bad a place but the ground can't soak up too much; the bayou's going to have to take it all. God, I wish they were further along with the widening project.

Glad you don't have any carpet on the curb tonight. Let's hope it stays that way for both of us!
