I found out why no matter what I eat or how much I exercise, I stay the same weight.
And why I can't lose my belly.

I've tried every diet, joined Weight Watchers, I walk 3 miles a day, drink filtered water and organic milk, etc. Tried supplements with my naturopath including CLA and green tea. Not my thyroid or adrenals.

Went to the GYN yesterday, had a pelvic, and was told I have a uterine fibroid the dimensions of 16 weeks gestation (4 months pregnancy). And it weighs some and pushes out my belly.

Good news: benign growth. Bad news: it's not going anywhere until after menopause when the estrogen on which it feeds is cut off. Good news: but when I'm menopausal, it will shrink. Bad news: trade-off of it will shrink when the rest of me starts to sag.

At least I can lose my frustration of trying to lose the belly "fat" b/c it isn't fat.

1. Look into The Gabriel Method.

The author lost over 220 pounds without restricted dieting. He came to the conclusion that our bodies will weigh what they think we need to
weigh, not what we want them to weight. When we give them what they want and need, they will start to release the extra pounds.

It is a great program. I have lost over 50 pounds in the last year and one half. It was a gentle slow process and it was fun.
There is a great mp3 nightly meditation you download for free when you buy the book (about 10 dollars on Amazon.)
It is definitely a different approach. There are also some helpful free podcasts on itunes from a blogtalk show Jon
did last year. They can give you a summary of Jon's philosophy of weight loss.

PS. I lost all my belly fat and I am well past menopause. My waist is now 26 inches.

2. Thanks, but the fibroid will remain at the size of a 4-1/2 month pregnancy
no matter how much weight I lose.

5. Thanks.
Don't laugh but I've lost 1.5 to 2 lbs already.

6. That is great.

I read the book a year ago in March. Started making the changes but had not weighed until two months later. To my surprise, I had lost 10 pounds.
At that point, I knew this going to work for me and it has.

7. I've discovered this much:
When it comes to stress, my body loses weight rather than going into starvation mode.

I've lost 8 pounds in the last three weeks after the scale not budging for months.

While this is not strictly the Gabriel Theory, it does show a connection between the mind and the body's metabolism.
