How hard is it to hang storm doors?
We can get storm doors cheap in our size at the building recycler's here in boulder (Resource 2000 - great place. I built a gorgeous countertop height dining table with materials from them for $30. (If you have something similar - check with your recycling program - they're a great source for building materials and home items.

Anyway, we can get the doors, no problem, but I have no idea how hard it is to hang that type of door, and what we would need. Do we need to extend the frame or will hinges to the job?

1. ask over inDIY, I bet Lugnut's hubby will tell ya. I doubt it can be that
hard though since folks take them down and put them up every year.

It should do a lot to help keep the heating costs down this winter though.

here's a Home Depot article that may help in the mean time

2. Yikes! I've always thought hanging doors is the most difficult
thing you can imagine. Problem is getting it plumb and most openings aren't very straight.

I guess you hafta use shims and all and I'm challenged in the "measuring" area. I think the advice to ask in DIY is good. I'm sure with good instruction you could learn.

3. My neighbors son and I hung a screen/storm door and the hardest
part was having the strength to hold the door (at the end). If you go to Home Depot and Lowe's web site (under how to do projects, they give you lists.). It really took like 2 hours and that's because we aren't pros.
