Hybrid Vehicles Thread: General
Hi there,

I'm starting this thread to ask people who have hybrids to review them here.

If you have questions about the technology, or specific models, we can cover all of that here.

My goal is to make a place that people can refer back to without having to hunt through previous posts and threads.

1. I own a 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid 4WD...
And would be happy to answer any questions.

If you find that you may be in the Northern Colorado area sometime, and would like to go for a spin, just let me know. I've had quite a few people test drive my Escape already.

There's something weird about coming to a stop, and the only sound you can hear is the car next to you.

There's something wonderful about coming to a stop at the gas station, next to the non-hybrid version of your car, and paying half a month what they do for the same number of miles driven.

Due to the snow and weather we can get in Colorado, I went with a 33mpg Escape Hybrid instead of the 50mpg Prius.

My 33mpg Escape is still TWICE the mpg any other SUV can get. And, damn near zero emissions.

I couldn't be happier with this vehicle.

2. We have the Civic Hybrid and
I have managed to get out of it up to 57 MpG on the freeway (once comming back from LA)

It averages at close to 40MpG and yes it is great the money we are saving

When we change our truck (which will happen) I have considered the Escape... and you are right when my mom drove the Hybrid she was surprised and disconcerted at the engine cutting off at the light, never mind I warned her.

Now here is the truly disconcerting part... my parent's 20 year old BMW 325I has almost the same milaege... sad but true.
