Is the media "behaving itself" again?
It's been eerily quiet since New Year's, hasn't it? I've noticed that the media picks up on a scandal weeks or months after it's been splashed across the internet. Then the white house spin begins, and news of the scandal starts getting equal time with the GOP strategists. Then there's lots of talk-show, back and forth discussion. Then, something happens. We stop hearing about the scandal. It gets very quiet until another scandal takes place. Then the whole cycle starts all over again. Nothing is ever resolved. I think the media has been "talked to" again and we won't be hearing much at all about Abramoff's Republican buddies, or DeLay, or the Valerie Plane leak. Where do all these scandals go? Is there a big pile of them somewhere in the universe where we can find them, along with our lost socks? How do we get the media to stay on topic?

1. They're very busy selling Alito's noble stoic calm under fire.
I'm getting this on every broadcast channel and I'm not a happy camper.

5. They were selling Bolton's inevitable confirmation, too
And Chimpy had to slip him into the UN under cover of recess darkness.

A fight is rounds, and Alito's testimony on his own behalf is just the first or second round. I think the popular media would love to see it be a first round KO, but Iron Mike Tyson isn't Iron Mike anymore, and there's going to be a little more back and forth before thing is done.

2. I'm no fan of the "news" media....
.... but look at their mandate. The fact is, you tell me some new compelling news about the Abramoff scandal that is just happening now.

There isn't any. And the media cannot sit there and blather on and on about something when there is no new news.

To anticipate your response, yes, they could dig deeper, do research, find the truth. Don't be so naive, the "media" quit doing that shit years ago :)

3. They're too busy whoring Scalito
Everywhere you turn, and they make sure to throw in the meme "Democrats are unlikely to filibuster" (and snarkingly suggest "Remain a permanent minority")
