General Wesley Clark and Kentucky Iraq War Vet Discuss Bush Speech in Louisville

WASHINGTON, Jan. 11 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Army General Wesley Clark and Lt. Colonel Andrew Horne, a Marine who served two tours in Iraq, today held a conference call with reporters to discuss the President's speech in Louisville. General Clark and Lt. Col. Horne called on President Bush to explain his Administration's failure to provide the brave men and women serving in Iraq with the life-saving body armor their commanders in the field requested.

Gen. Clark:

"This Administration has a long record of misleading the public and making very bad strategic decisions which have left our troops in jeopardy. So today, what we really want to emphasize is that if you care for the American soldier, and we Democrats do, then we need to put our resources into getting them the adequate protection. It's about saving the lives of the men and women who serve and letting them do the mission effectively."

Lt. Col. Horne:

"Commanders on the ground -- their primary responsibilities are completion of their mission and the welfare of their troops. The fact that commanders asked for this equipment, asked for the studies to see what changes could be made, and then -- for literally the cost of a Humvee -- they were denied funding for the full investigation is just deplorable."

Gen. Clark:

"The fact is that the Administration is not providing the resources to protect our soldiers. The men and women who are serving are just not getting the support they need. The rhetoric from the Administration doesn't match its actions, and the result is unnecessary combat fatalities. I think this is a clear case where Congressional investigation is warranted."

"A history of misleading the public."

Reminds me of the montage TDS did of all the Dems in Congress saying they were "concerned" about Alito's confirmation. Yes, fascism "concerns" me too. :eyes:
