Official "Cry me a river" thread
what are the other great moments in history when things related to Bush nominations resulted in tears?

My first thought is Voinevich holding back the tears as he told his fellow senators to vote against Bolton for UN Ambassador.

What are some of the other great "crying moments" in US government history?

11. I think 11/2004 was worse that 11/2000
In 2000, we only thought Bush would be a lousy President. By 2004 he had proven it beyond all doubt.

10. Bushie, during the town hall debate
Edited on Wed Jan-11-06 06:17 PM by Touchdown
...when he demanded to respond to Kerry, and Chris Wallace's ass kissing processor was malfunctioning and said no, so Bush yelled and overruled him anyway.

12. She's the "Princess of the (GO)P"
Everyone knows that they're more sensitive. I wonder how many times she cried for the victims of Katrina. I wonder how many times she cried because troops are dying for an illegal occupation of Iraq. I wonder how many permanently disabled troops she's visited. Gee ... tough questions about the truth are so much harder than holding your dead child in your arms after a U.S. bombing in Iraq.

14. someone should have said they were outraged by his outrage
like seems to be the latest line from those scum whenever a large bulk of US population is genuinely outraged by something like Abu Graib, etc.

15. What is it with all the crying? Should be done at home.
Why does every one think anything you do at home can now be done in front of any one? I just can not get up to date on it all.

16. Crocodile Tears...All Coached...Literally
I've posted this elsewhere but seems more is developing here.

First...note that what was said that upset Mrs. ScAlito was done by "Coach" Lindsay Graham...who has been catching some heat for being both "judge" and "coach" in this game. Surely Mr. Graham's questioning wasn't a hidden secret and the Repugnicans have been playing both cheerleaders and damage control wherever things warrant. Now, Mr. Graham surely knew these questions could contain things that could be construed as offensive and had warned Mr. & Mrs. ScAlito prior to his time...or he could have tempered his statements and just let the "dirt" be quietly added to the record. Or, Mr. ScAlito should have known about these letters and how his wife of umpteen years would have reacted. He could have told her to take an extended lunch break if he knew what was being said would upset her.

Now...let's connect a couple other dots here. There was that earlier smackdown by Senator Kennedy on Arlen Magic Bullet...that will now force Alito's contacts with CAP to be made available, and we assume there will be things inside that isn't going to make Sam the Sham look very pretty. So, quick, let's get a diversion...turn on the tears and start the tongues wagging. And while you're at it, make it look like the big, bad, nasty Democrats were responsible.

Watch what happens next. The talking heads and hate radio asshats will now obsess on her crying jag and blame it on piling on this poor guy about something that happened 30 years ago...a "youthful indiscretion" (all the time the trashing of Ted Kennedy over Chappaquiddick will go on without missing a beat). It's trying to create a victim...sympathy for ScAlito.

Remember, this regime all but telegraphed their aim this week...and that's to create a lot of confrontations regarding ScAlito as a means to keep people from saying the words Abramoff or Fitzgerald or Iraq or Katrina or Corruption or anything but "mean, evil, nasty Democrats".

Expect even more hysterics if this thing grabs any traction...which unfortunately it could.

17. oh yes. nothing captures America like crying women on TV. (white women)
black women who have no food and are in danger of rape in New Orleans don't capture America's attention.

is the "alpha male" version of crying in that it is a visual display meant to evoke sympathy.
