Rove going down is great, but I'm really scared about Iran.
How can our lawmakers allow him to get away with bombing Iran?
Tony Blair knows better now.
WHY is nothing being done to stop them - before it is too late ??? !!!
What do we need to do ?
PLEASE : Call Washington, and leave messages with ALL the senate/congressional secretaries, to deliver our pleas NOT to bomb Iran!!

If we all did this, it could it make a difference -... how many of us are there ?

1. Histrionics 101?
W knows he has neither the support or the will of the American people to bomb another third world country.

8. Right, but why would that stop him?
By the looks of it, he's going down hard and he may see this as a make or break situation. Mentally, he's not all there, and he sees himself as God's messenger. This is a VERY dangerous situation, especially when nobody in this country can gain the support to stop him.

9. It's not histrionics. It's pretty much a done deal.
This has been finalized for quite awhile. We are already practicing formation to prepare for the attacks. It appears that Rove may have been even AGAINST bombing Iran, but the rest of the PNAC are going to make it happen anyway.

4. I believe there are some organized rallies across the country.

I know that past and present leaders have written to Bush to dissuade him from pressing a foolish course of action, before even attempting diplomacy of any kind with Iran.

With our superior air power, we should get better traction out of using that at the diplomat's table than in real life, where it might not be all what the Commander in Chief thinks it will be against the resilience of the war-hardened Iranians.

What's your worry tonight, pola? Are you concerned that Bush will strike before Monday?

I know we have 2 more carrier groups heading to the Gulf to compliment the one there now. That strategic planning has said we'd require 2-3 carrier groups prior to beginning an air war.

But I believe that unless the Administration grabbed the dice and rolled them just to "wag the dog" we won't see anything by next week.

The fleet needs to be in place.

But I share your concern, because marshalling the Nat'l Guard along our Southern border is a radical move. It cannot be a permanent deployment, it's simply not practical. But it is a concern, considering that totalitarian countries seal their borders citing "security" concerns ONLY when they are really trying to keep their own people inside.

Call the 800 numbers for your congress critters, and any other congress critters you have time for over the weekend, if you have strong concerns.

Nothing will in all probability happen at all until after Blivet speaks on Monday. But, in the present atmosphere, it would be all-or-nothing brinkmanship for him to announce action against Iran next week.

I can't say I'd totally put it past him. Our military helos are overflying Iran in a game of "dare ya" and if all else fails, we could stage an international event to kick start reflexive retaliation.

But most factors says our military isn't poised just quite yet to move.

Yet I agree...we also very well may not have a great deal of time to avert a horrific war of US aggression against Iran.

6. thanks, Dunvegan.
Yes,
I am very very worried.
I will call Congress.
How can they NOT see what could happen to us if we take that course of action ?

11. It's Adding Up - Talk With The Former Secs Today - Ships On Their Way...

to Iran - request for prime time network coverage Monday night. Could this be the beginnings of the strike on Iran? We know he's going to want to do it before KKKarl gets indicted.

12. No
Apparently that's been given over to Israel- another thread (which I am too lazy to look up) sez they plan to attack Iran soon. *bush just needs to sit back and enjoy the massive destruction, as usual.

15. Honestly? At 29% and sinking fast with the NSA and Rover going away...
i don't think they are going to do anything but slither around and steal money for awhile. I don't think the country is going to stand for much more. the curtain has been pulled back. They've lost their mojo.

This is the point in the movie where the bully is going to beat up the next little twerp, only now he's lost the support of the rest of the cafeteria AND his own toadies. And they aren't going to put up with it anymore.

I think the repubs are going to turn on all of them. Listen to Newt last night. they can't afford to hang with this ship anymore....
