ABC News: May 15, 2006: White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove addresses selected media members at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, DC

<http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/TheNote/story?id=140388 >

This establishes that he WAS scheduled to speak, now was it on the AEI site and then removed in the past 24 hours or so?

----------

This is from the London Times (online) Sunday:

Karl Rove, Bush’s closest adviser, will come out fighting tomorrow with a speech in Washington on the economy. It will address what the White House is calling the “greatest story never told”: why Bush is not getting the credit for a growing economy.

appearance by Rove that was scheduled for Monday. It must've been listed on the AEI site - it was a *big* event for them.

Good luck!

Would be nice to know if this was for real... would be nicer if they put "event cancelled" like they did for the Venezuela one on that same page.

18. ABC News & London Times: Rove was scheduled to speak at AEI Monday...
See my post above or below in this thread...

Now if only we had screen shots of the AEI page with the announcement. It seems safe to expect that AEI would have had a Rove speech posted, but then again without seeing a screen shot, I can't get overly excited...

Talkleft -- that the event suddenly disappeared from the coming events page.

If the person who posted at Talkleft can cough up a screenshot and if the explanation at the bottom of this thread does not explain away the 'disappearing event', then...

K sera sera

On edit: Mispelling intentional. The explanation at the bottom of the page is that Karl's address is still listed on the site, just no longer on the main event announcement page, because - perhaps - the event reached maximum attendance capacity.

55. That's not the same page...
The main page does not list Rove, but an 'internal page' does. Maybe the announcement was removed from the main page because the event was full?

Maybe he has cancelled. Maybe he will give the speech as planned.

Maybe he will speak on a new topic -> "I was framed!"

The two links you shared hint that maybe it is cancelled, but don't demonstrate it conclusively. A screenshot of the main page before the event was removed might be a little better indicator, but still...

Rove Speaks

President Bush’s embattled political aide, Karl Rove, emerges back in public next Monday with a speech at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington. The think tank bills it as “a policy address,” but Rove, largely removed from his policy role in the White House under new chief of staff Josh Bolten, is likely to lay out the latest Republican strategy for mid-term elections. The audience will also be watching closely for any words, or body language, about the latest twists in Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald’s leak investigation.

34. Whether or not, it seems rove isn't such
a hotshot anymore. I was just leafing through a Vanity Fair from July 2005 and an article by Michael Wolff called "The power of rove" caught my eye.

It states.."For spooked and frustrated liberals, karl rove emobodies everything evil in American politics. How has bush's top strategist managed to outmaneuver and elude them at every turn? Perhaps because he isn't interested in anything but politics: the old-fashioned, down-and-dirty, unglamorous, winning kind.." ..less than a year ago.

rove got so down and dirty that his brain's recipient is now in the 20's with the American public..below freezing.

61. I watched that on CNN...did you hear his intro?...
It was very KKKryptic-The guy introducing him said something about "Even though the sharks are unfairly circling and circling him he's continuing with his obligations..." (paraphrasing, but it was even more than that. He said maybe two sentences about this).
