I hear that too. But, i tell them "I oppose eavesdropping BECAUSE i'm not doing anything wrong!"

First, it's an unnecessary intrusion of privacy to be spied upon when one is doing nothing wrong.

Secondly, it's a huge waste of money to spy on people who aren't doing anything.

Thirdly, if we're spying on people who aren't doing anything wrong, we're never going to catch the bad guys.

Lastly, it's unamerican, because that presumes guilt and requires spying to prove innocence.

The "unamerican" thing usually shuts them up.

I don't guess it's that original a thought! Seems pretty logical and straightforward.

But, it's true. And, it's what i think! If you think it too, great!

The only things i've added, as i have had time to think about it more, is the idea about wasting resources to spy on people who aren't doing anything wrong. Other than that, it's even a simple enough concept for freepers to grasp.
