For those complaining about the ads

1)Learn to live with it

2)Stop coming to the site

3)Start your own site and find a way to fund it without advertising


Those are the three logical choices for adults. If you just want to grip and complain and think if you scream loud enough you will get your way, I'll let you figure out what age behavior that is.

in the posts from the Admin., I'm pretty sure they wanted posts griping about the advertising issues to remain WITHIN their posts so we didn't have threads all OVER the place with gripes, and you must have just read some somewhere, why not just respond to their comments... So, that's why I thought I'd click on your thread and let you know and whoever might see this before it gets deleted.

they'll be the ones to set the tone of response, since it's their site.

So the best advice at this time may be, rather than complain impotently in public, send the Admins a private email and detail your thoughts therein. Over the years, I've found them generally to be quite open to thoughts from the Board. If they hear from enough people, or the argument is cogent enough, they'll respond. And if their response isn't the action you hope, see RGBolen's suggested course of action in the OP.

I just roll with the punches when Skinner et al try something new, but it was nice to see there are threads devoted to discussing this. I figured there would be, but truly don't care so long as the DU experience remains somewhat as easy to use and as fluid as it has in the past.

To be honest, I'm more concerned about the content of the posts than I am their form.

who cares? I hated the sticky's more than the ads, to be honest. How does this work though? Do we have to click on them for them to count? Or is just advertizing for Google payment enough?

11. The stickeys happened before the current evolution of DU. The

stickey thing was a response to people contributing to DU, the newest wave is acknowledging google as a new partner. And you don't have to click on anything!

EarlG, Skinner, & elad would like, I'm pretty sure, if we spoke about our feelings within their administrator posts - not here, they can't here all the opinions when they're scattered about the site in random threads by people wanting to make sure their comments are heard. I've read every post in the Admin. posts about the ads, please place them there so you can interact with the rest of us on this issue.
