Everyone knows the analogy that if you put a frog in water and bring it to a slow boil, it will be dead before it figures out what's happening.
The clock is running out on our democracy. That water has been coming to a boil for the past six years now and all of our letters, phone calls, petitions, faxes, marches, contributions, protests and whatever else haven't done jack shit. BushCo is still screwing us every day of our lives and nothing we've done has changed it.
The most recent and vile example of what Bush, Cheney and their henchmen have turned us into is the reports of the murders of women, children and other innocents, committed by American troops. In a posting last week, I tried to explain the pressure these troops are under, while not forgiving their actions. I'm not interested in explanations anymore. Nor am I interested in forgiveness.
Today, one week later, I want to know what makes these military criminals any different from the German SS? And what makes the rest of us any different from the average German citizen who tried to remain anonymous while their fuhrer was raping the world?
At some point, we've all got to say, "ENOUGH -- It stops right here and now and you degenerate criminals are going to spend the rest of your lives in a 4x6 foot cell."
Like every decent, angry, frustrated person in this county, I lack the answer of how to make this happen. But caving in and playing "Mr. Nice Guy" is no longer an option. Someday, your child or grandchild might look at you and ask, "What did you do during the great terror?"
