5. If you're seriously thinking of sending it...

...be very careful. Sending offensive materials through the post is a federal offense.

Several years ago, a friend decided to protest against a tax hike in his state by sending a 'check' written on a soiled pair of underpants. He was prosecuted and heavily fined.

Just make sure you don't leave your fingerprints on any of the turds, is all I'm saying ;)

7. I would think that the reason your friend was prosecuted

could be because of the "check" itself? Maybe something to do with uttering a false document?
just asking.... it seems a check written on soiled underwear wouldn't be a valid instrument.

8. Apparently not.

The reason he sent the offending article in the first place was because he'd studied the matter a bit and discovered that, in law, it is perfectly acceptable to write a 'check' on anything, as long as it is legible and contains the details necessary to allow the recipient to cash it (bank name, account number, etc). He wasn't intending to defraud anyone (the details on the 'Jockeycheck' were correct), so the instrument wasn't false.

Instead, he got busted under postal regulations governing offensive/obscene materials.

I wonder if we Dems could get together and have all the repugs who send us their election fliers and stuff prosecuted for sending us "offensive materials"?

I just love fighting the good fight... I wonder how this would play out? Any lawyers here want to weigh in?
