Employers, unions anxious about pension talks
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060619/us_nm/congress_pensions_dc

Remember when Nader said there was really no difference between Al Gore and bush?

Remember when the voting turnout was less than 30%, because no one thought it mattered?

I wonder how many of those that will be affected voted for bush or the repukes, or didn't even bother to vote?

Many times change does not take place until people are directly affected.

Are they affected yet?

1. I remember talking with a group of union members.
I brought up PATCO (the air traffic controllers' union) and asked how many of them had voted for Reagan. It got real quiet.

2. Sort of puts the Social Security debate in perspective, eh?
SS might be all that many current workers end up getting. And with the national debt pushing $10 trillion bux, that might not be there either.

3. I live in PA., and the unions WON here for Gore AND Kerry.
Union workers canvassed, held rallies, used union halls for GOTV recruitments....They busted their arses.

5. I imagine that is true, but I would think the South is different
In general the total voter turnout wasn't very good
