Coulter: If Murtha did get fragged, he'd finally deserve a Purple Heart
Thu, Jun 22, 2006 7:46pm EST

Coulter: If Murtha "did get fragged, he'd finally deserve one of those Purple Hearts"

Summary: Ann Coulter refused to explain -- and even expanded upon -- her recent claim that Rep. John P. Murtha is "the reason soldiers invented fragging," military slang meaning the intentional killing of a member of one's own unit. On a Denver radio show, Coulter referred to her fragging comment as one of her "best lines" and refused to confirm that she was not "suggesting that anybody should off John Murtha," stating only: "It is what it is." On Fox News' Hannity & Colmes, Coulter further expanded upon her statement, asserting that if Murtha "did get fragged, he'd finally deserve one of those Purple Hearts."

10. Birthday gift for Ann Coulter: a Wonder Bar
Wonder Bars are short little crowbars carpenters use to pry moulding off, nails out and things like that.

Eventually Ann is going to get one of her size-13 pumps stuck in her mouth so badly nothing short of a crowbar can get it out...and a Wonder Bar fits neatly into any purse.

Even though she, with the help of the MSM, has tried very hard to pimp her book for the last week, you can buy it (if you wanted to) for a deep discount on the freeper sites. The book was a bust, so Ms. Coultergeist is amping up her poisonous rhetoric. She's gone way beyond offensive; now she just sounds silly.

Isn't there a specific federal law against threatening to harm a Senator or Congressman, just like threatening to harm the President? Shouldn't the FBI pay her a visit - and I'm not kidding. She is like somebody on a psychotic rampage who won't stop until she hurts herself or somebody else.

Edited on Fri Jun-23-06 08:53 AM by tblue37
Let's see: She has suggested assassinating Bill Clinton (when he was still in office), poisoning Justice Stevens, and fragging Rep. Murtha.

She's hit the trifecta!--she's suggested murdering people from all three branches of the US government.

Did any of you ever see the Robin Williams movie The Fisher King, where an unbalanced fan of the Jeff Bridges right wing radio host character shoots up a restuarant after taking the radio host at his word when he says that people should be killed?

Don't forget that for a brief and shining moment there was actually some consideration about whether the language of right wing hate radio and publications might have had something to do with Timothy McVeigh's commitment to violence.

63. It definately says something that she has not been arrested
This is not the first time she has threatened the life of a public official. She also threatened a Supreme Court justice, and said that the only question with Clinton was whether to "impeach or assasinate". She said this while he was President, and did not get locked away. She even said her "only regret" with Timothy McVeigh is that he did not blow up the New York Times building. This woman is a terrorist, she should be arrested.

55. Because the MSM didn't condemn them then
Coulter thinks she can say the same think (for all practical purposes) about Murtha. I hope Kerry condemns her for this comment - it's a lot easier to express righeous indignation when it's someone else than when it's you. His defense of Murtha last year was excellent. Teresa also wrote a wonderful editorial for a PA paper - apparently she's known Murtha for years.

But I do think when the nutballs start talking about fragging someone like Murtha that we need to pay attention to that. Same strategy - you point to it, call it dangerous and threatening language, and then ask someone like John Warner or Chuck Hagel what he's going to do about it.

41. Ann Coulter the literary equivalent to Jerry Springer
She's not at all interested in intelligent debate, providing solutions or rationally advancing the conservative agenda she so allegedly and passionately claims to be an advocate of. She's only interested in offending people to sell books. Ann Coulter the literary equivalent of Jerry Springer. All together now with fists pumping in the air: "COULTER! COULTER! COULTER!"

What a shrill shill!! She's a carnival sideshow, interested in only the shock value and attention she can muster to sell her hateful screeds to the yahoos who eat this kind of stuff up.

She offers absoultely nothing constructive. Out of curiosity, I picked up her book in Barnes and Noble, feeling quite dirty as I did so. I couldn't get past the first chapter. From what little I could stomach reading, she only offers hatred and divisiveness, only doing so to sell her books to the masses. Unfortunately, that she is a best seller is a symptom of a bigger problem that this country faces.

42. Correction: Ann Coulter is equivalent to the "Jerry Springer" TV Show.
Not the guy himself. If you listen to him on the radio show on Air America, or any other outlet that he exposes himself on (no not nudity but jerry Springer naked... ewww IMNSHO) he comes across as a very sensible and reasonably intelligent guy. He just hosts a freak show on TV, and it pays him well.

46. That he hosts a "freak show" on TV...
...should be embarassing to intelligent liberal thinkers everywhere.

But perhaps, when you think about it, it makes sense in a perverse sort of way. After all, he's a liberal, yet making money off the most racist, reactionary segment of the American citenzry. They eat it up and he laughs all the way to the bank, thinking "Suckers!!!" He's actually exposing the underbelly of the lowlifes for what they really are. I bet if you did a survey of his audiences, you'd be hard pressed to find an intelligent liberal in any of them.

Looked in this light, he's a modern day PT Barnum.

43. Langauge in, Garbage Out
I had hoped we'd begin to ignore her statments but... The very odd thing is, Murtha is the exact opposite of the officers who were targeted for fragging.

Murhta has been outspoken about defining the mission and arguing for the removal of our troops from Danger. Officers who were fragged (to my understand of the Vietnam Experince) were the ones who couldn't give a shit about their men and wanted dangerous missions in order to win favor and awards...

It seems to me other persons in High Office in the government fall under my defintion of those deserving to be fragged...

47. Ironic that she'd advocate fragging Murtha...
...if he were still in service, he'd be one of those officers that his men would willingly fight and die for. Murtha would respect those men fighting under him. That respect would be mutual.

I'd wager if Ann the Man were an officer, she wouldn't last or live a week; she'd be fragged within 24-48 hrs.

65. WRONG.
It's "leaders" who don't represent their soldiers' interests that usually get fragged. Not that fragging is RIGHT, but she's completely off, as usual. I can tell you, at least from what my army boyfriend in Afgh says, they all support one another, and it would take a HELL of a lot of DRAMATIC anti-troop behavior for someone to be fragged. Like seriously, sending people in to unwinnable shit, over and over again, and then over and over again, without listening to common sense. Her claim that Murtha's anti-war views would get him fragged is fucking laughable. From what I hear, the VAST majority of the troops don't want the fucking war and just want to come home. More so when it comes to Iraq than Afghanistan (my friend has been in both).

67. Who Benefits from putting her in front of cameras?
She is put there by the same interests who profit from the misery of war, from organized cheating to deny the vote by minorities, from the networks who sell the sheeple Ambian - ask your Doctor if Ambian is right for you? She has sold her soul and is thus suffering from extreme soul loss. She is poison, vile and putrid. Her heart is a calficied, cancerous mass, her brain marinated in the toxic waste of the corporatists. She is exactly what they want, someone to spew the Nazi-like venom to distract us from the real theivery going on under our noses. She has given up her inherant humanity for short-term personal financial gain.

She would not be wanted by the tribal families if she were in the villages of ancient peoples. Tribal council would cast her out from the tribe for her evil spirit to the dark forboding woods to fend for herself among the wolves and carnivorous beasts. Her naughed bones would be soon found in a shallow pit and then burned to finally exorcise her viral marrow.
