We didn't argue much as I chose not to ruin their visit with politics but we had a couple of discussions. Republicans are not happy. Whether they will ever vote Democratic I don't know but they are very unhappy at the moment. I told them the USA was currently spending beyond it's means at over a hundred thousand dollars a second and that didn't seem very Republican. I told them that America was switching to voting machines without paper trails and that the largest producer of these machines was Sequoia and it was a Venezuelan company and boy did that raise their eyebrows. The guy was bitching to me how in the last five years he had had his salary cut in half and I asked "You still vote Republican?" and he started getting defensive and said he didn't really think he was Republican just had some Republican ideas. We talked a little about Iraq but as soon as he learned I was a combat vet and he never served the subject ended. Although we didn't really get into much I was left with the feeling that they would not be supporting any Republican come November.

1. It sounds to me like you did your duty as a Democrat
and I for one believe that's a good thing. As you say, lots of Republicans are unhappy, but that doesn't mean they recognize the enormity of their error when they voted for the shrub in '04.

2. GOOD, there are more and more of those every day..........
....and I am very proud to say that I have had a very small part (in the grand scheme of things) in turning some of those neocons into "conservative Democrats" or out and out Liberals.:bounce:

I don't understand why they can't make the connection. I guess it's cognitive dissonance, or maybe it's an inability to admit to oneself that you've been making the wrong decision. It's some kind of psychopathy, clearly.

9. They can't even admit to wanting a theocracy anymore one thats anti
abortion, pro prayer in school, pro teaching creation as science is now demanding seperation of church and state. I'm almost laughing as this guy in post after post has threatened everyone who said religion and state to remain seperate with eternal damnation has now done a 180. I guess shrub is really letting them down.

4. A former colleague of my
husband, who has been very supportive of * for the past several years and used to send us very annoying Repug emails before I requested that he not send that tripe to my home, sent us a link via email to the Chimpy's Brain game... you know the one that you try to drop a brain in a moving chimpbot and when you succeed, a live quote plays of some nonsensical drivel of * from one of his speeches.

Amazing turn around there. He used to tell my husband that he (my husband) just didn't **understand** the issues. :eyes: My husband is a very patient friend.

The tide is turning. I hope its in time for this fall.

5. I been hearing a few bloggers that a year ago were pro republican bush
cheerleaders who all of a sudden became independents with republican ideals. Now they are toting the I'm going to vote Libertrian this year line. The bad thing about that is most states have blocked Libertrians from being on the ballots this election cycle, so either they won't go to the voting both or they will go and vote republican yet again and lie about it.

8. Rove is going to try to hit these folks' hot buttons this fall
so that they get out and vote rather than stay home.

Hopefully they'll be able to see through the drivel that is about to be bestowed upon them.

10. I think your story shows why Rove is trying to get back through...
propoganda.

Fear worked two years ago, why not try it again?
