Lieberman said Ned's supporters were on a "jihad" against him
Senator Lieberman and his supporters are cracking under the pressure of a close primary, becoming angry and unhinged. Instead of talking about the issues, they are attacking you personally ... yes, you. Senator Lieberman himself said Ned's supporters were on a "jihad" against him. High-profile Lieberman backers have called you "radicals" seeking to "terrorize the senator throughout the summer." The specific choice of words is calculating and no mistake. It's the typical George Bush/Karl Rove tactic peddled by Republican smear merchants like Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity (who have both endorsed Senator Lieberman). This is what we can expect for the next six weeks, and we need your help to fight back today:

We are going on the air tomorrow with a brand new commercial, and we need your help to keep it on the air. While Senator Lieberman distorts facts and outright lies about Ned's record, we are going to hit back with the truth. For too long Senator Lieberman has parroted Republican talking points, giving "Democratic" cover to the president's failed policies. If it talks like George W. Bush and acts like George W. Bush, it's certainly not a Connecticut Democrat. Watch the commercial and help keep us on the air.

The senator's campaign is also desperately attempting to undermine the groundswell of support behind Ned by belittling your ability to make a difference in the democratic process. "Smoke and mirrors from the beginning," Sean Smith, his campaign manager, said of you last week. Well, Sean is right about one thing: there is smoke, and where there's smoke, there's fire. This campaign is setting the country ablaze with the hope that ordinary Americans can reclaim the country from those who have us steamrolling down the wrong track on issues like Iraq, health care, and energy independence. The next FEC reporting deadline is this weekend. Show Senator Lieberman we are more than just "smoke and mirrors" by reaching our goal of five hundred new contributors.

Campaign e-mail.

8. LOL Botany.
I think you mean a Muslim call to prayer, but your point is hilariously funny, given the context.

12. Also pro forma during mourning, at a funeral
And with the right emphasis, it can be a battle cry or a celebratory expression.

It's all in the tone!

The word of the day:

ululate \UL-yuh-layt; YOOL-\, intransitive:
To howl, as a dog or a wolf; to wail; as, ululating jackals.

He had often dreamed of his grieving family visiting his grave, ululating as only the relatives of martyrs may.
-- Edward Shirley, Know Thine Enemy: A Spy's Journey into Revolutionary Iran

She wanted to be on the tarmac, to ululate and raise her hands to the heavens.
-- Deborah Sontag, "Palestinian Airport Opens to Jubilation", New York Times, November 25, 1998

She used harrowing, penetrating nasal tones and a rasp that approached Janis Joplin's double-stops; she made notes break and ululate.
-- Jon Pareles, "On the Third Day There Was Whooping and There Was Moshing", New York Times, August 18, 1998

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ululate derives from Latin ululare, to howl, to yell, ultimately of imitative origin. The noun form is ululation; the adjective form is ululant.

13. The flopsweat desperation of a candidate WANTING to inject a faux
'religious discrimination' element into this race. That IS what it is all about, here. That IS what he is doing--and he ought to be ashamed of himself.

He should say he thinks the stress of being cheated out of his Vice Presidency has shoved him over the edge, off Zell MIller cliff. And that Joe has that sickness that kidnap victims get for there captures.
