A tribute to the Question W Revue

The ?W Revue was a cabaret show created by former DU poster nostamj. Prior to his passing, nostamj provided the General Discussion forum with some good readin. Perhaps he will be best remembered for his cartoon thread (TOONS!):) . I remember him for creating The Question W. Revue.
I was reminded of this show when I stumbled across this thread
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=169x841 while looking through my bookmarked threads. I was able to attend the showing on the 25th.

I would like to see this show go on tour. I wonder how we could make that happen.

Here is a little more info.

1. I miss Jeff
I still wear my favorite political shirt designed
by Jeff "Yeah I'm a Liberal , Want to Fight About It?"

I wish I had been able to watch the Question W review.

3. I think the spring, 2005.
I was emailing him about doing some postcards for my business and he said he was going into the hospital for a few days and would be happy to do them when he got out...and he never did get out. I think he had no idea how sick he was; he was in the hospital for about a week and then died.
Question W was a great revue and well named.

8. Yes, ick!
But it must have been internal because he didn't seem to know what was wrong with him before he checked into the hospital.

4. there's a performer award in his name
During the show we will be presenting two JEFF MATSON AWARDs to two talented and most deserving recipients, Trudi Mann and Hector Coris. Both recipients expect to be present at the party to accept their awards.

9. Hurray nostamj!!!
And thanks for posting this wonderful tribute to him. I've still got his bumper sticker on my car. A little faded but I don't care.

I was trying to hook him up with Michael Moore when he unexpectedly died. So sad. He was such a talent and a very kind hearted soul.

:toast: To nostamj!

You must have been at one of the other tables.

This may sound odd from one of the people who is keeping the TOON tradition going and who dedicates every one to Jeff, but I didn't care for the Question W Revue:

It was just too much "for the choir" for my taste. If you weren't already "on board" and "up to speed", it wasn't as funny. I'd brought such a friend with me, he pointed out that in the big speech just before the finale, where the actor should have been hammering point after point, laying out the facts of what was wrong with Bush and his administration, instead hit a lot of subjective points that to my friend boiled down to how he felt about Bush, not reasons for opposing Bush.

Naturally I was more favorably disposed, but my friend had a point: if you were going to take it out of the West Village and onto the road, it would need considerable tweaking.

But it's a damn shame Jeff will never have the option to do that now.

JHB (of Team TOONS: I post on the third week of the month, usually on Thursdays)
