Drink responsibly......
Beer Baron Loses License After DUI Arrest
From Associated Press
July 15, 2006 11:39 AM EDT
DENVER - Beer baron Peter Coors' driver's license has been revoked after his arrest for drunken driving following a wedding celebration. Hearing officer Scott Garber ruled Friday that Coors did not stop at a stop sign and was driving impaired on May 28. Coors, 59, said he had consumed a beer about 30 minutes before leaving the wedding, the Rocky Mountain News reported Saturday. He faces a July 20 arraignment and has 30 days to appeal the revocation.

"I made a mistake. I should have planned ahead for a ride," Coors said in a statement. "For years, I've advocated the responsible use of our company's products."

. . . In one breath test, he registered a blood alcohol level of 0.073 percent. In a second, 20 minutes later, he registered 0.088. The legal limit in Colorado is 0.05 percent.

5. he drank A beer 30 minutes before he was stopped? I know the legal
limit is low here in CO, but does this sound the tiniest bit odd? I wonder if it was his own beer he was drinking, as many serious beer drinkers think the stuff is bilge water.

10. Nope

Using this BAC calculator, 175lbs weight, 4% alcohol content -- it takes 3 beers 1/2 hour prior to hit .05, 4 beers to break .07.

Edit: Oops. Using this BAC calculator...

13. I couldn't remember the formula
I used to teach TIPS classes for an Anheuser-Busch distributor.

TIPS - Training Intervertion Procedures for Servers (of alcohol).

Things like weight, physical condition, what you've had to eat, medications, how fast you drink, what you drink, your individual metabolism, etc - all influence your own BAC.

Since ol' Pete isn't an anorexic Japanese dwarf, it's pretty certain he's fudging how many Colorado Koolaids he slammed :)

17. He only had one beer!
It was the bottle of champagne and the Jägermeister shots that done him in.

11. found this clarification of CO law
Colorado law has since changed to say that a driver with a blood-alcohol content of between 0.05
percent and 0.07 percent is presumed to be impaired. A driver with a BAC of 0.08 percent or greater is presumed to be driving under the influence.

As an added bonus - I ran across this..... :)

Bruce Benson, a Republican leader who disclosed during his bid for governor in the 1990s that he was
stopped twice for drunken driving, said he learned of Coors' arrest on Thursday.

12. You can talk all about how drunk he was...
and the hypocrisy of his ads, but the real story is how it stayed out of the news for 6 1/2 weeks. Money hushes.

18. That's the biggest part of the story...how long it took to come out.
Ah well. The perks of a big bank account...covers a multitude of sins. For a while, anyway.

maybe if he had killed someone or caused some large accident.
