W's Veto of Stem Cell Bill will Appeal to his nasty, mean Christian base.
You know, the ones who keep voting for him and his daddy and Reagan before him. The deluded religious types who can quote Christ while murdering thousands and robbing millions, the ones who are so worried about people being happy, or people being fed and taken in when they are sick, you know, like Jesus wants them to.

Bush has signed every fucking bill presented to him and now he vetoes THIS ONE? What a shit head. The man who vetoed mercy and compassion for the poor and the sick, the man who prevented millions from getting a break from their sufferings.

I am so so sick of mean, nasty so called Christians.

1. The same ones
who find value in a person suffering from Alzheimer's for 13 years, now just a twitching mass whose condition has ruined her family financially and caused so much heartache to the one's she has loved and who still love her. No stem cell research for her; nosirree. I met this person and her husband in a nursing home my father was staying in a few years ago (my father has since died.) The husband said he was 65. He looked 105. On second thought, I can understand how someone losing their mind would be of no concern to one who is already insane.

2. My proposal for anyone voting against this bill
1. They must vow that no family member will ever take advantage of any medical treatment any time in the future that was developed using stem cell research.

2. They must immediately reach out to "save" those frozen stem cells by volunteering every empty uterus in their families for immediate implantation with embryos currently languishing in freezers across the US before.

3. They must draft legislation banning any further use of the in vitro fertilization process that creates these embryos in the first place.

4. I think that is reasonable.
The veto of this bill will be absolutely disgusting. It is a slap in the face of medical science that could benefit many just to pander to a few.

5. I think this is a GOP election stunt
Junior isn't seeking votes but the GOP Congress is. Most people are in favor of stem cell research, so the GOP members of Congress are getting a chance to vote for enabling legislation, so that they can cite their support to court pro-research voters.

But lo, Junior smiteth the legislation, and issueth he statements that stir the loins of the religious right! This is classic divisive politics by Rove, designed to ensure the disillusioned Jerry Falwell types don't stay home in droves this November.

And presto! Individual GOP candidates can court pro-research voters, and at the same time fundies are motivated to get out the vote for God's Own Party.

They have zero intention, by the way, of overriding Junior's veto.

6. I may be wrong but does this really matter as long as......
private institutions are still allowed to do research. I have read that many independent organizations (howard hughes foundation comes to mind) are still continuing with the stem cell research, sure the extra money would be a plus but it is not as if the research has been shut down.

7. Actually
The gop is trying to shut down private research just as they are trying to over turn roe. All though the anti stem cell restrictions dont get much press. Not to mention that scr has nothing whatsoever to do with the abortion debate. The funding would aslo speed up the research for those who need it. Time is not on our side, my firend. The bottom line isn't always about the almighty dollar.
