Have You Been Accused of Accusing People of Anti-Semitism on DU?

Many people lately have been accusing people of accusing people of Anti-Semitism.

Can't they see that just because you criticize someone for being Anti-Israel doesn't mean that you are accusing people of Anti-Semitism!?

And for those who are going to try to defend themselves by saying that I am accusing them of accusing me of accusing THEM of Anti-Semitism...well, err, I... it's NOT TRUE and I resent it!

I have lots of friends who are Anti-Israel, but no Anti-Semitic. In fact, my roomate from college was one... So don't even go there!

Good point. It has become an effective weapon to stifle any support of Israel. I have never accused a poster of being anti-Semitic. If they post something out and out anti-Semitic, I use the alert. I have called posters 'anti-Israeli.' I have called posts (the words), articles, and authors (of said articles) anti-Semitic.

It's not about parsing words anymore. It's about our common dream of survival in PEACE. Your tactics on this board, as Israel's do, contribute more heat than light. (DAMN, it's been SO HOT IN THESE PARTS. I actually got another reed to GOOD PLAY stage today, but not before I was dripping sweat).

I so understand your reflexes. I too can read the subtext in the keystrokes. However, having a foot in more than one camp has taught me to temper them to search out COMMON GROUND. THAT in my experience has always been the best place to start.

I will not apologize for being Jewish, nor will I apologize for my support of Israel. Nor will I 'trash' Israel because that is the "in-thing" to do at DU! I find it VERY disheartening that so many are willing to criticize Israel, but when challenged resort to the claim they are being called an anti-Semite, when it hasn't happened!

I'm surely not anti-semitic never have been, never will be, don't see any point, people are people and I really wouldn't know to be anti-Semitic or racist, hating or disliking a whole group of people (because of some nut cases like Sharon) simply because they are a ceratin race, get fucking real...That would mean I could accept people hating all Italians, simply because they are Italians (as I am).
