Snow:"not a situation where he is gallivanting and ignoring the situation"

<snip>

Asked about the president heading to the ranch in the midst of a deadly Middle East conflict, Tony Snow, the White House press secretary, said today: "My guess is, he's going to be working pretty hard. This is not a situation where he is gallivanting and ignoring the situation.''

1. Yeah, cause we know he reads memos and stuff at the ranch
And meets with concerned Americans and such. Not like he's out bike riding or playing lumberjack or nothin'.

2. Gallivanting and ignoring the situation is what Bush does best.
Remember 9/11/01.

And Hurricane Katrina.

Bad things always seem to happen when Bush is playing, which he seems to do a lot.

Of course, having him on duty isn't all that great, either. :eyes:

as the Most Lavishly Vactationed PResident of All Time.

Commander AWOL Bush has made mincemeat of Ronald Reagan's astonishing vacation record.

He puts in a lot of Hard Work vacationing at the Imperial Pig Farm Upon Crawford.

11. Gallivanting is a perfect word to describe Bush's actions - Thanks Tony!
Definition: "Go around from one place to another in the pursuit of pleasure or entertainment".

Bush is best at seeking out his own pleasure. The hell with the rest of us.

15. What's sad is that Clinton was a workaholic, and they portray him
as the one that was "ignoring" the situation in the ME ... whether it was ObL, Saddam, Israel/Palestine ... despite all the hard work he did and all the info that was gathered about ObL (which, by the way, the Reich-wing had off the radar prior to 9/11/2001, despite ObL's involvement in the 10/12/2000 bombing of USS Cole) ...

This is going to be the soundbyte swipe at Clinton, not a reference to Bush ...

It's not all gallivanting and ignoring.
Let's not forget the occassional gamboling with that Jeff G. guy,
or the dutiful cavorting with German heads of state.

18. And we didn't even have to bring it up
Snow himself says that Stupidhead is off gallivanting and ignoring situations. But this isn't one of those times. Instead, I guess he's laying low and hoping it all resolves itself while he's gone, which is definitely not "gallivanting and ignoring the situation."

Bush's rigid vacation schedule, however, will brook no outside interference from events, no matter how major. He's a steely-eyed, stay-the-course kind of guy when it comes to goofing off. And make sure his salary is paid the entire time.

Bush Gave No Sign of Worry In August 2001
By Dana Milbank and Mike Allen
Washington Post Staff Writers

CRAWFORD, Tex., April 10 -- President Bush was in an expansive mood on Aug. 7, 2001, when he ran into reporters while playing golf at the Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Tex.

The day before, the president had received an intelligence briefing -- the contents of which were declassified by the White House Saturday night -- warning "Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US." But Bush seemed carefree as he spoke about the books he was reading, the work he was doing on his nearby ranch, his love of hot-weather jogging, his golf game and his 55th birthday.
<snip>
Condoleezza Rice, in her testimony Thursday to the independent commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, spoke of a government on high alert for terrorism in the summer of 2001. "The president of the United States had us at battle stations during this period of time," she testified. Rice's talk of battle stations is part of the Bush administration's effort to counter an impression that it did not do enough about terrorism before Sept. 11; a Newsweek poll released Saturday found that 60 percent think the Bush administration underestimated terrorism before the attacks.

But if top officials were at battle stations, there was no sign of it on the surface. Bush spent most of August 2001 on his ranch here. His staff said at the time that by far the biggest issue on his agenda was his decision on federal funding of stem cell research, followed by education, immigration and the Social Security "lockbox."
