Heat so bad it buckles a highway!
Just saw that on my local news. It was so bad, yesterday, that they had to close part of the highway today to repave it! (near Kernersville, NC) I am so glad there is no such thing as global warming!!!!!

2. We had a buckle
and then it sunk. It was a few years ago when we had steady 105+ temperatures. It was a big sinkhole in the freeway.

But you are right. There is no global warming.

8. Well you can rest easy, mom cat.
The buckling of the highway and the waiting to see if we have broken records puts all worries to rest. Nope, global warming HAS to be a myth.

21. Mine reads 84 and it feels good in the house after being outside for a
while! I remember a few years ago when it stayed this hot for a day or two it would storm and at least there would be some rain. Although if it rained in the morning it would be like a sauna for the rest of the day until it rained again in the evening. During the past 5 yrs. or so it just seems as though it gets this hot but it may not rain for 2-3 weeks. And when it does rain it's a nasty super storm cell and not just a thunderstorm - Crazy patterns.

run her AC with no problem at all but she's gotten kinda ...er, 'tight' and sometimes will refuse
to run it. There are elderly people dying around here.

If Clinton had taken action we wouldn't have Global Warming right now.

In the end, everything is his fault.

13. They've been spraying cold water on the streets around here
And suddenly every piece of gum dropped on sidewalks and streets is suddenly reappearing, as the heat and humidity reconstitutes it. I've never seen anything like it...suddenly there are sticky gum splats everywhere.

15. Tucker signed off with a smug comment about how
"no one can explain global warming in three sentences, and there is debate blah blah blah"

If I could stand to email his show and thought they would read it...

One. Global warming is caused by trapping more of the sun's energy in the earth's atmosphere.

Two. An increase in greenhouse gasses, such as Carbon Dioxide (CO2), is the primary cause of trapping that energy and CO2 is the byproduct of burning fossil fuels".

Three. Tucker Carlson is an idiot.

sometimes idiots need to be reminded they are idiots. He probably really thinks that people (the rational ones) will believe him just because he says it.

These people are just delusional about all this.

30. The statement alone shows how stupid he is. ......
on so many levels. You did a great job explaining it but the fact that he feels it must be stated in three sentences or less shows how stupid he is. If it is happening, and it is a danger, who cares if you take an hour and a half and use a documentary to explain it? Is he that stupid that he believes that if you can not explain it in 3 sentences it must not be dangerous or important? Can he explain all of physics in three sentences or less? What a moran!!!!!

17. That's very common in the midwest & plains states. Even Minnesota.
Concrete doesn't much have problems but asphalt roads are terribly susceptible.

in the midwest in the summer. From what you're saying, though, it must not be common where you live.

31. Nope, not common at all.....
I have not heard of it before and it was a feature news story. In fact, they showed it right before a segment on global warming! I honestly did not have the stomach to sit there and listen to the second segment. I was afraid they would explain everything away and my blood pressure would cause me to have a heart attack. I do not even listen to the news any more, it was only on because I was peeling potatoes and did not have a remote to change the channel.

35. Not a common occurrence in Piedmont North Carolina
It's been hotter than blue blazes here of late. I've been in this area of NC for over 15 years and I've never heard of this happening.

I was born and raised in the mountains of NC where we normally never see the mercury any higher than 85.

36. I agree, libnnc.
It may be a common occurrence in other places but I have lived here for almost 20 years now and I have never heard of it happening.

Our A/C broke down yesterday and that turned out to be the reason why the temp in our house is so hot. I started looking for hotels in the mountains and it is still warm there so I picked the only place I could - Mt. Mitchell. Well, they are still pretty hot there so I am suffering until a repair guy gets here. We were so stupid last night that we declined an after hours visit because they would charge twice as much. My poor son complained that his room felt like an oven! I am not sure what time I finally managed to get to sleep last night.

I think the whole point is that it may happen in other places but I have not heard of it happening here. If those would deny global warming would just look around, they would see many signs.
