Please critique my LTTE on Lieberman/Lamont and terrorism

After upstart Ned Lamont upset the incumbent, millionaire lawyer Joe Lieberman, in the Democratic primary last week, the reaction from the Republican Party was very swift and focused on the exact same Talking Points.

Every Republican, from VP Dick Cheney and White House mouthpiece Tony Snow, down to every right-wing radio jock and op-ed writer all said basically the same thing. They all lamented the loss of Lieberman and said it was a victory for Al-Qaeda and the Looney Left of the Democratic Party.

We are now approaching the five-year anniversary of 9/11. Yet, Osama bin Laden is still at large, Al-Qaeda seems as strong as ever while America’s status is in the dumpster, Iraq and Afghanistan are a mess, and all the while Iran and North Korea are thumbing their noses at us.

With Republicans controlling both Houses of Congress, the White House and the judiciary, it is too bad they only seem to get focused when it comes to playing politics and not in fighting the real war on terror.
