What can $229 billion buy?
According to the National Priorities Project , the $229 billion spent in Iraq so far (projected to reach $260 billion by March) could have been used in other more constructive ways:

  • 2,071,649 new units of public housing (New Orleans, are you listening?)
  • 3,987,307 new teachers

  • one year of Head Start pre-school for 30,474,152 kids

  • four-year college scholarships for 11,153,764 students.

  • nine years of fully funded global anti-hunger efforts

  • global AIDS projects for 22 years

  • basic immunization programs for every child in the world for 76 years.

  • THIS is the type of information our Dem “leaders” need to be talking about for The Folly of King George to really hit home. Plain numbers for common folk.

    1. A lot of peace if used in a different way. On the other hand, it has
bought a country out from under its inhabitants.... not a bad deal if you can find one.

    2. Yes, but then........
freedom wouldn't be "on the march" like it is in Iraq at this very moment! :eyes: And the Oil Companies wouldn't be able to steal Iraq's oil and sell it to us at record prices, assuring them record profits every quarter. Where are your priorities anyway? What are you, some kind of communist? ;)
All kidding aside, I agree whole-heartedly. The money bush has wasted in Iraq could have been much better spent here in our own country on our own people. This will be the bush legacy. Letting our own country turn to shit while waging an idiotic war that can never be won.
